As the days get longer, spring will arrive on March 20th, 2023. Our store will be open on the 20th of March. We will look forward to seeing you soon!

We have been planning and working all through the winter to bring you the new and most colorful hanging baskets, planters, wall pots, herbs, perennials, and vegetables for the spring season.

We are forcing bulbs for Easter, which arrives on April 9th. The perennials were just planted, so they will be available mid to late April.

Winter damage has begun to show up on evergreens and deciduous shrubs. All from the blizzard from Christmas, and high winds through most of the winter. Azaleas got windburn from exposure, some may not even bloom this year. With all the rain through the past 3 months, there are diseases beginning to show up. We noticed a bacterial leaf spot on Euonymous Silver Queen. The disease began showing up around February 1st. It was sprayed with a fungicide as soon as the disease appeared on the leaves, some dropping off the branches. Rhododendrons are stressed due to excessive rain, and diseases are bound to show up on some.

It will soon be time to fertilize the lawn at the end of the month, either straight fertilizer or crabgrass preventer/fertilizer, if needed. The best crabgrass preventer contains an ingredient with dimension, giving a longer window period to apply it up until mid June. Keep in mind, you need rainfall to wash it in the soil to work. A good time to apply this product is end of May, which would give 2 weeks to allow for rainfall.
