Protect the potted plants you want to bring inside now. Temps in the 40° and 50° range and nighttime at 40° or colder. spray with insecticide before you bring them indoors. You may want to do a soil drench through the pot to ensure insects are not present in the soil. Do a test area with an insecticide such as insecticidal soap, or Eight. These two sprays are usually “safe” to use on most plants without any burning of the leaves. Always try to spray outside before you bring them indoors, or in your garage.
Pick tomatoes before a frost gets them. If they are not ripe enough to eat, you can choose to place them in a paper bag to ripen or cover over top with paper. The tomato harvest will be extended this way. Keep them cool and in a place they will not freeze. Also pick any peppers before the frost gets them. If you have small peppers left and you want to can them, pepper butter would be an easy recipe.
